Dan Balz of The Washington Post looks at the Clinton campaign in New Hampshire.
Clinton is putting up a firewall in the Granite State, where the Clintons have long and deep ties. It was in New Hampshire where former President Clinton’s campaign caught fire in 1992. After finishing second even though his campaign was considered dead, he stood on the podium and triumphantly declared, “And that’s why they call me ‘The Comeback Kid.’” Nine months later, he was president-elect.
Despite the Clinton advantage, the relatively wealthy and educated electorate would seem to favor Obama, who as Balz points out does better with those voters. The Clintons realize if they don’t win in Iowa — she trails in recent polls — they have to win New Hampshire.
Here’s how it matters to Nevada: If Obama or Edwards win in Iowa, and Clinton wins in New Hampshire, much will ride on Nevada, Jan. 19.

It’s unfair to characterize Clinton as trailing in Iowa polls. Her deficit is within the margin of error, making it a dead heat.
