The media circus may be dying down a bit today in the alleged O.J. Simpson armed robbery, kidnapping case — but not for long.
Las Vegas Judge Joe Bonaventure ruled there was enough evidence in a preliminary hearing for Simpson, 60, and two other men, Clarence “C.J.” Stewart and Charles “Charlie” Ehrlich, to stand trial on 12 charges in the September 13 incident at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino.
“If I have any disappointment it’s that I wish a jury was here,” Simpson told The Associated Press before he left the courtroom on Wednesday. “As always, I rely on the jury system.”
Simpson’s defense team argued that the credibility of the witnesses testifying against Simpson was in question, Bonaventure said they were “not so incredible or implausible” to keep the case from a jury.
Here’s a quick rundown of some interesting stories from the case:
(AP) O.J. Simpson Case: The Associated Press has several interesting items from Wednesday. In addition to its main story on Simpson heading to trial, the AP did a solid job of recapping the case with an update of the charges and penalties Simpson and two co-defendants face and a major events timeline. Also the AP has a story about how Simpson plans on spending his time before the trail begins.
(CNN): CNN’s Jeanne Moos has an interesting story on the many faces of Simpson during the trial.
