This is the second of an ongoing series where Las Vegas Sun editors aggregate the best Simpson-related news and opinions found on the Web.
As the media blitz continues to gobble up everything surrounding the O.J. Simpson case in Las Vegas, media outlets around the world are weighing in with their opinions. More stories are starting to filter out involving other players in the case. Here’s a quick look:
(latimes.com) Recording amplifies the drama: The Los Angeles Times finally has an answer to one of the biggest questions surrounding the Simpson robbery of why there was a recording device in the room. Thomas Riccio, an auctioneer who allegedly set up the meeting with Simpson, hid a recording device in the room so he could have “evidence that (Alfred) Beardsley and (Bruce) Fromong were trying to sell stolen merchandise.” The Times also has an AP story that reports that a judge has denied Ron Goldman’s request to seize Simpson property. Another insightful story concerning the recording device comes from The New York Times’ The Lede blog.
(TMZ.com) One of O.J.’s Alleged Victims Suffers Heart Attack: TMZ.com, which was the first to broadcast the audiotape of the alleged robbery on Monday, is reporting that Bruce Fromong, one of the sports memorabilia collectors in the room at the Palace Station last Thursday night suffered a heart attack Monday. The site has a ton of continued Simpson coverage.
(Slate.com) Timothy Noah goes satirical with “If I Robbed Him — An exclusive excerpt from O.J.’s next book.” And Michelle Tsai explains the value of O.J. memorabilia is “Less and less for most items but a lot for rare pieces of history.”
Simpson spoofs are popping up everywhere. From late night comedians like Conan O’Brien to a bunch of Chris Crocker wannabes on YouTube such as here, here, or here. Warning: These clips contain some offensive language. But poking fun at O.J. is nothing new as evidenced by these past Simpson barbs, including a classic SNL skit and a remixed Bronco chase video.
