Fire damaged a house late Sunday in the far western Las Vegas Valley. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue and Clark County firefighters responded to the fire Sunday evening at 8 Panorama Crest Ave.

crime: Investigators say they've likely recovered the weapon used in shooting
North Las Vegas Police arrested two more teenagers Sunday in the death of a Metro Police officer killed last week at his North Las Vegas home. Quadrae Scott and Emmitt Ferguson, both 18, of North Las Vegas, were booked into the North Las Vegas Detention Center at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday. North Las Vegas Police on Sunday evening also announced that investigators believe they have recovered the gun used to fatally shoot Officer Trevor Nettleton early Thursday morning at his home.

Corrections officer with Metro killed in U.S. 95 crash

A Metro Police corrections officer was killed in a vehicle accident this morning on U.S. 95 near Searchlight. Officer Daniel Leach, 49, of Boulder City, was driving a prisoner transport vehicle from the Clark County Detention Center to the Tucker Holding Facility in Laughlin. The accident occurred at 5:45 a.m. as Leach was driving southbound on U.S. 95 about a mile north of Searchlight. Leach had worked for Metro as a corrections officer for 25 years.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office has canceled an Amber Alert issued Friday for a missing toddler from Pahrump. The alert was issued Friday evening for 18-month-old Julian Alarid, taken at about 3 p.m. Friday by his father, Stephen Alarid, 47, authorities said.

The FBI said Friday that it has begun "evaluating" the unauthorized release of confidential patient records after officials at University Medical Center met with them in an attempt to determine how the materials have been compromised.

McCarran International Airport traffic continued its decline in passenger counts in October, but the trend showed signs of easing. The passenger count dropped 1.3 percent in October compared to last year, from 3,560,497 passengers last October to 3,513,663 this year.
