Berkley, Titus join Biden at dinner for Greek Orthodox Church leader

WASHINGTON -- When the vice president opened his home to the Ecumenical Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church this week, Nevada's Democratic Reps. Shelley Berkley and Dina Titus joined for dinner.

Vice President Joseph Biden hosted a Wednesday evening gathering in Washington for His All Holiness Bartholomew, the "green patriarch," which Reuters notes is a name given to him by Al Gore because of his commitment to climate issues.

Both Titus and Berkley have Greek heritage in their backgrounds, and represent portions of Southern Nevada's Greek Orthodox community. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid also co-hosted a luncheon meeting with the patriarch and members of Congress in the Capitol.

Berkley's office issued a statement saying the congresswoman is "honored to welcome his All Holiness Bartholomew to the United States, both as a Member of the U.S. House and on behalf of Nevadans affiliated with this religious community."
